Tories criticise Labour on poverty action
The shadow chancellor George Osbourne has claimed that the Conservatives would be much better at tackling poverty in the UK than Labour and that Labour reforms haven't gone far enough to end poverty during their term in office so far. Angela Eagle from the Tresury has reposnded by highlighting the Tories flagship ideas on inheritance tax, a policy she claims "punishes the middle earning population and rewards the top percentage of the rich". She was also quick to highlight the unreliability of relative poverty statistics, something that Sociology students in year 11 will be considering this autumn!
